News SAPPHIRE TEAMS - 29 SEPTEMBER 2012
The club entered two teams, one in each level.
The Level 5 team competed first and consisted of Natasha Fisk, Natasha Lobley, Georgina Borchard and Evie White. The team was relatively inexperienced at this level and all four gymnasts were competing in their very first competition out of the region. They did very well performing some nice routines and despite a few falls on beam team managed 8th place overall.
The Level 4 team were up next and consisted of Jess London, Hannah Merrick, Katherine Roddham and Lara Coyle. Once again the girls performed very well despite falls on beam.
Notable performances were from Natasha Fisk who came 3rd overall on floor in Level 5 and Hannah Merrick who came 4th overall on bars Level 4.
A fantastic competition with lots of fun and entertainment provided throughout the day. The commentator was even dressed up as Spongebob Square Pants! Once again very well done to all girls!
Yorkshire Junior FIG Competition - 23rd September 2012
Well done to Alice McCorry who entered the Yorkshire Junior FIG competition. She was the youngest competitor not officially being a in the Junior age category until next year. Alice performed well on all 4 pieces despite a few falls trying out some new moves on the Beam and Vault. She finished 3rd overall 1st on bars and 1st on floor! A fantastic achievement and the first gymnast from the club to compete at this level well done Alice!
We have two teams competing at the Isle of man the level 3 team consisted of Amelia M, Amelia D, Rebecca , McLain and Nicole H. The level 4 team was made up of Alice, Jess, Nicole C, Natasha F and Natasha L. The level 3’s went first starting on Vault with some very nicely executed vaults, bars was next and unfortunately did not go so well all of the girls apart from 1 fell off on their clear to handstand!, Beam was not much better with two people coming off ! Determined to make amends the girls really pulled out everything they could on floor with some very nice performances. Final positions Team 1st place Mclain 4th on Vault, Amelia Mearns 2nd on Floor 4th overall and Rebecca Borchard 3rd Vault 1st on Floor and beam. The Level 4’s competed on the Sunday and started on beam due to a mistake by the competition organiser Jess and Alice had to change their routines after they had warmed them up however did the best they could do under the circumstances Nicole and Natasha did some lovely routines on the beam starting us of with some good scores, Floor was next where all of the girls really performed well vault was third and again they all did the best they could Jess and Alice performing almost faultless handsprings. Bars was last piece and unfortunately the first two up fell Jess and Alice then under a lot of pressure to complete some nice routines for the team did exactly that! Team finished in 4th despite the falls only .01 from 3rd place! Alice finished 1st overall, 1st on Bars and floor, Jess 3rd on Vault and 6th overall (despite falling on the beam!) Fantastic results again for the club!
Trampolining Grades Sunday 16th
October 2011
9am
!! A nice early start, just what every parent wishes for on a Sunday morning when
they have to take their children to the Bonus Arena in sunny Hull.
Day started off in a typical fashion- one panel
running late, but eventually O15 Grade girls G-E comp started. Grade E were first
and out of the 4 gymnasts Ellen Brown prevailed with a qualifying score of 49.3
and a gold medal to take her up to Grade D. Katie Emmett competing in Grade G
wasn’t far behind but fortunately even though her 44.3 score wasn’t enough to
qualify to F, her silver medal soon cheered her up.
Up next was Neave Gorman U15 girls Grade G with
a great start including 3 scores of 8.0, which helped her to qualify to F and
gave her 10th place out of 51 gymnasts.
Amy
Noble U15 Grade E finished the morning with an excellent 50.4 Grade D
qualifying score and a fantastic 10th place against a very high
level group.
The afternoon saw the boys taking charge with
Jack Mcfarlen in U15 Grade F gaining a score of 48.3 that saw him collect yet
another silver medal and a qualifying to E!
U15
Grade G boys did us proud with a gold team medal each and 2 qualifying out of
3. Robert Southby came 6th with 45.3, Zak Anctil came 8th
with 45.2 and Owen Davies despite nerves came 11th with 44.1 just
0.9 off qualifying but that won’t stop him next time!
Eden Brown U15 girls Grade F finished the day
with a nail biting qualifying that had me panicking and attempting to work out
tariffs whilst they all kept asking is it above 2???? Fortunately with a tariff
of 2.3 Eden zoomed straight to Grade E with a score of 47.1 in 14th
place!!
Overall a fantastic day which saw 7 out of my 9
gymnasts entered qualifying to their next grade and a total of 6 medals (4
gold, 2 silver) lets hope the next competitions are as successful.

Yorkshire Level 5, 4 and 3 Teams - 16th October 2011
The club had a team in each level the Level 4 team was first to take part the girls were the youngest team in the competition and for most it was their first level 4 competition they did very well performing some very nice routines however did not quite have the difficulty to challenge for the medals just yet. The level 5 team was also a relatively inexperienced team at this level and despite a few falls on beam performed very well lots of 1sts for the girls most performing somersaults on the floor for the first time as well as upstarts on bars and new vaults. They finished in a very respectable 3rd place. Last up was the level 3 team with the youngest two gymnasts in the competition being in the team and really only level 4 gymnasts the team performed exceptionally well and even though there were a few errors they still managed to finish 1st!!
Well done to all of the girls you all did yourselves and the club proud:

Italy 2011
Thank you to everyone who traveled to Italy the girls had a fantastic time as did Jonathan on his first trip away!!
The week long camp saw the girls training up to 8 hours per day usually split into two sessions there were three gyms where the girls were all able to perfect at least one new move each I think the record for the week was 9 new moves!
At the end of the week the girls performed their own group routines to show off what they had learned which will soon be added to the video’s on the clubs youtube channel.
A very valuable week for the gymnasts and fingers crossed for some great competition results now they all have some new moves!!

Only three gymnasts took part in the the grades from Harrogate. Ellen Brown (Under 15 grade E), Amy Noble (Under 15 Grade E) and Jack McFarlane (Under 15 Grade G). Ellen and Amy were first up and were a little nervous having just moved up to grade E earlier this year they both performed some lovely routines if a little shaky at times coming 4th (Ellen) and 7th (Amy) not far at all from qualifying to grade D, the last regional grade before they start to compete nationally!
Jack was last to go and after some interesting warm ups including a lot of front somersaults that would not stay on the cross he performed two superb routines and came 2nd overall qualifying for Grade F next time.

National Grade 8 Finals - 24th April 2010
Well done to Amelia who took part in her first National final at the weekend she competed both individually and as part of the Yorkshire team. First up was floor where Amelia was the first to compete! Apart from a small mistake on her spin she completed a beautiful routine with legs together in all of her flicks and hardly a step at the end of each tumbling line. Vault came next where she managed to score 12 improving on her performance from regionals, Bars was the third piece where she performed a solid team routine with good casts and no steps after her pike shoot to give her a 11.650. Last up was the beam and although for most this is their least favored piece for Amelia this is her best she was up first to give a steady and solid performance for the team, and she did! Hardly a wobble and a very confident routine earning her 2nd place individually on the beam. The Yorkshire team came in 5th (the highest placed team of the weekend) and got to step forwards and present at the end. Well done to the team and to Amelia!
Trampoline Grades D-G March 21st 2010 Well done to all the Gymnasts who entered the Grades competition on Sunday. A really good day and some superb results. First up was Eden Brown (Grade G) and one of the Youngest Representatives of the club at only 9 years old, she performed superbly on her Set Routine putting her in the gold medal position however a dodgy 3/4 turnover to back meant she slipped down the rankings to come 16th still a great effort for her first competition. Next was Heather Carter (who came back from Birmingham for the comp!) and Amelia Dingley (Grade F) both performed well however with some small errors, including Amelia putting the wrong move into one of her routines, they finished 4th and 5th respectively. The last Group to compete was Ellen Brown and Amy Noble (Grade F) and Jack McFarlane, Courtney Gorman and Bronwyn McMurrough (Grade G). All did some beautiful routines and Ellen and Amy not only finished 1st and 2nd but also qualified to move up to the next Grade! Courtney and Bronwyn finished with exactly the same score however on count back Brony just beat Courtney into the 4th Spot. Jack pulled out some very clean and controlled routines to finish in 2nd place. Well done to all the gymnasts and a big thank you to Lauren Atkinson and Alex Wozniak who have taken over from Heather as the Squad Trampoline Coaches.
The club has produced it's first newsletter that has been emailed/ given out to all club members. Click here for your copy and let me know if you have any idea's for the next issue.
